Occasionally, Perth Graphics Centre is called upon to engineer a solution for a particular application. In the case of Scitech in Perth, the requirement was that banners needed to be changed without using a cherry picker each time.
Our team was able to create a system that allows the banners to be changed over in a short time without having to use high lift equipment.
Instead of requiring an EWP (elevated work platform), the idea was to be able to change the banner onsite, with minimal downtime. PGC fashioned a special winch system which allowed us to use an aluminium track to slide the banner in and out.
Once the banner was in place, it was pulled taught via the winch, which kept the banner free of the wind and maintained a tight skin.
We also installed profiles on the edge of the building to prevent rubbing which would eventually cause the banner to weaken and break. That possibility was eliminated, creating a tight, vibrant signage surface and one that looks amazing year-round.
