Banner Printing

In this article, we’ll explain a little bit about banner printing. Perth Graphics Centre prints banners day in and day out, and has done for many years, meaning we have a lot of experience printing banners.

The banner material to print on is fairly standard – a 440gsm gloss, 1000×1000 denier. Don’t worry if that doesn’t mean much; all you need to know is that it’s a medium weight, gloss banner with good tear resistance in wind.

Printing banners can be done in a couple of ways: screen-printed banners or digitally printed banners. Screenprinting is usually done for huge quantities – 100 banners or more. Today, screen-printed banners are all but extinct. Digital printing has taken over, and is just as cost effective. There are a few methods for printing digitally – solvent-based inks, UV-curable inks and latex-based inks.

Here at Perth Graphics Centre, we have invested in the latest equipment so we can do banner printing with solvent inks, UV-curable inks and now latex inks, the three most common forms of printing. Each will last outside in the weather and each have good clarity and colour. So you can be sure when you order your banner from Perth Graphics Centre, you’re getting a quality product.

Lastly, we come to the finishing. Most of the time we use ropes and eyelets, but you can also incorporate Velcro, pockets or simple hems – it’s up to you. Each of these are professionally stitched and we DO NOT recommend wind-holes as these induce tears, rather than letting the wind through.

Hopefully, that helps explain the whole process. If you have any questions about banner printing, or just need some more information about banners, Perth Graphics Centre is here to help.
